Doubtful Sound is indeed one of the most remote and awe-inspiring places in New Zealand??”getting there is part of the adventure. The journey typically involves a boat ride across Lake Manapouri, followed by a bus trip over the Wilmot Pass, all before you even reach the fiord itself. That layered journey often makes the experience feel more profound, as if you've truly earned the majesty of its silent, misty waters and towering cliffs.
Taken with Nikon Z7 and my travel Z lens 20-300mm. Three HDRs with minimum PS and LR posting processing.

John, you really captured the eerie feeling of Doubtful Sound. Was this an early morning shot or bad weather coming in. You really seized the feeling of remoteness. Like it with the water being sharp and further back somewhat soft. Posted: 05/04/2025 01:40:59

John, I really like this image and your decision to present it in monochrome. Is a moody image capturing well the feeling of an early morning on the lake with the fog creating patterns and a negative space almost framing the hills. All together an excellent work.
