West Shore, Llandudno by Nigel Dalton

April 2025 - West Shore, Llandudno

About the Image(s)

This is the West Shore at Llandudno, North Wales. It's totally different from the main shoreline on the north side. The beach is long and sandy with a view of the Great Orme and the little village nestled under the huge rock. My wife used to live there as a girl so we went for her birthday. It's a vertical pano of 6 shots PP in Photoshop. I took this to show the expanse of shoreline, beach and stones in relation to the mountain.

Very nice pano Nigel. Really like the expanse of low tide beach and the sky is perfect. What is the large radish brown walkway that parallels the shoreline on the North and West coasts? Looked on Google Earth. Great perspective on the size of the town compared to the mountain. I noticed the horizon line is way off looking at the ocean but I think I still like your version best. All colors are very realistic. Well done.   Posted: 04/12/2025 12:50:13

Thanks Tom, The Great Orme is a large mound of land that has a road all the way round it - we've walked it many times. It looks as though it gets to the top in stages, there are some quite steep bits. There are four ways of getting up, by tram, by cable car, by car or walking. I haven't done the cable car yet. It was too early in the season for it to be open and quite frankly I'm glad because it was absolutely freezing on the tram so cable car would have been worse. Here's a picture of the tram.   Posted: 04/12/2025 13:32:29

Nigel, I think this is a good panorama image but I agree with Tom the horizon is a off line and this penalize a little the image. I also personally believe that image is a little flat (because the light. I took the liberty to make few adjustment in Capture one and I think the image pops out a little better. About the horizon I think that is an effect related to stitching the images together.

Best wishes

Thanks for the edit Michele. Yes, I think the effect of pano stitching sometimes throws it off and I must admit to not having checked it other than using the auto geometry tool in Photoshop Camera Raw. I prefer the edit you did for the hillside especially.   Posted: 04/19/2025 09:07:11
