This is shot at Santa Cruz in California after sunset, my attempt at Minimalism . I was drawn to the beautiful pastel color and the serene feel. I originally shot it with the boat in the middle of the image, and cropped it with the boat in the right third for aesthetics.

This is a strikingly beautiful, peaceful image. I love how you captured the soft pastel colors. You also made the right composition decision when you moved the boat to the right. This is an excellent minimalist image Spring. I agree that moving the boat to the right was a wise choice. I would consider to clone out the buildings in the foreground. In a minimalist image like this one my eye is attracted by them.

Spring, love your minimalist image. To me it looks like a beautiful watercolor piece of art with a sailboat. The lighting certainly accentuates the mood. We as photographers love to tweak images but in the case of your image why mess with perfection.

Thank you for your comment. I know nothing about the boat, just thought it's a nice element for the image. :) I have other images with a coast guard ship in it as well, but thought the single boat conveys the mood better. Posted: 02/14/2025 07:11:16
