About the Image(s)
The following photo is of Silver Falls in a small mountain village of Sikkim, a Himalayan state of India. The photo was taken with an ND filter mounted on my Nikkor Z 14-30mm f4 lens. The camera was supported on a tripod. I was looking for a shutter speed to optimize between the texture and silky flow of the water. I use a 4s shutter speed with f14 ISO 64. To add some depth I have included the rock at the foreground with some deep green foliage.

I love seeing images from other parts of the world. You captured a beautiful waterfall in a part of the world that I've never been to. Your choice of a slow shutter speed was excellent. It provided a dreamy, silky texture to the water. The green foliage is gorgeous, but to me the green colors seem off and unnatural. I suggest dialing the saturation back a tad or making a slight adjustment to the temp or tone. Otherwise, an excellent composition and image.   Posted: 01/01/2025 18:44:42

Lovely image, the beautiful silky waterfall is the highlight, nice foreground with the rocks and the moss and leaves on them. I too feel the saturation is a bit overdone, the green seem a little unnatural. A great image overall.   Posted: 01/07/2025 01:45:25

Srijan, Your image has great visual impact and interest. The slow shutter speed makes the falls look very glossy and silky. I also think the greens may be slightly over saturated but I have seen areas around waterfalls where there is so much moisture that they look just this way. Your crop is perfect. Well done.   Posted: 01/09/2025 14:14:59

I like smooth water and I like shots where the droplets are defined so this works for me. I'd have got rid of the acidity in the greens, a bit much for me. The orange speck in the bottom left hand corner - once you've seen it you can't unsee it. I'd have cropped a bit off the bottom and the left - the foreground rock will still be prominent enough to balance the image.   Posted: 01/09/2025 15:54:40

Srijan I echo comments from the other about this image. First is a beautiful example of intimate landscape. I think your composition and choice of shutter speed it is perfect to convey an atmospheric, fairy tale image. I also believe the green is a little overdone and agree with Nigel that the orange speck is creating some distraction. I think the white balance is also a little off. If you look at the sky has some unnatural tint.

I thought that the unnatural colour in the sky might have been as a result of an attempt to darken it down if it was blown out.   Posted: 01/12/2025 12:16:19
