Interesting sky and I'm sure that in good light (all my comments seem to be about light this month!) this is a stunning location. I think that at least 1/3 on the left is not necessary - you have a perfect line where the coast line meets the water to crop from and it still retains a good amount of sea and sky to make it work. Your thought might have been that the main focus was on the really interesting sky and decided to use that rather than crop it out. It's about your intention this one, sky or composition. Still a good image John.   Posted: 12/06/2024 22:05:30

John, I understand what Nigel is saying but if you crop it you would loose that large cloud that is sort of a lead in and keeps it in thirds. I cropped the image to get a true comparison. After the crop and have to say the image is so sharp that I am now leaning towards the cropped image. Both images are excellent but I think the cropped image has more impact.   Posted: 12/08/2024 15:41:40

Hi John, very nice image! I love the dramatic clouds and their beautiful color. I agree with Tom, the cropped image has more impact. You still have the beautiful clouds; in a way it takes more of a center stage and becomes even more dramatic. I think the clouds get lost a little bit in the vastness of the original image. My two cents. :)   Posted: 12/08/2024 22:12:40

I enjoy seeing all the photos from your various travels! I never know where your next image will be from. I vote for the cropped version. You still have the dramatic clouds but there is more emphasis on the coastline.   Posted: 12/10/2024 02:04:42

Hi John,

I agree with the comments from the others and think the Tom's cropped image is more interesting.

Best wishes
