About the Image(s)
On a recent cruise to the Southern Caribbean one of the ports that we visited was Curacao. It is a colorful beautiful port that even has a floating movable bridge called the Swinging Old Lady, this 1888 pontoon pedestrian bridge opens laterally for passing ships. This image was taken from the far side of the Saint Anna Bay.

This is a great image of the waterfront. I love the different colors of the buildings. The golden sunlight above them is especially nice. I only wonder about the cropping -- it appears the bridge and buildings nearly cut the image in half. Could you crop off the bottom just enough to remove them from the middle? It's a minor point, but just tossing it out for your consideration.   Posted: 12/03/2024 18:34:08

Mike, my goal was to keep to the rule of thirds somewhat with the fair sky, the colorful buildings through the center and the flat reflective water. Could possibly crop a little more water from the bottom. I welcome your comments.   Posted: 12/08/2024 16:30:42

Sorry I haven't posted myself this month Tom - you're aware of the issue.
I like this - a colourful row of waterfront houses and a dramatic sky. I wondered why there wasn't more of the dramatic sky in the foreground - maybe the direction of light. Taking up on what Mike said about the crop, I can see the reason for so much foreground, you possibly didn't want to cut the reflections off the buildings - in that case, why not accentuate them a bit more? A Caribbean cruise sounds just right.   Posted: 12/06/2024 21:54:24

Nigel , thank you for your comments. A Caribbean cruise sounds great to us right now also. North Florida has been very cold. Global freezing I guess!   Posted: 12/08/2024 16:34:04

It's a very colorful and well balanced photo. I don't see anything I like to change. Good job.   Posted: 12/10/2024 18:43:44

Tom, I think this image as a great potential. The colorful buildings and the great light on the sky have the potential to create one of those images with a "wow" effect. I agree however with Nigel and Mike about the cropping. I think your image is following the rule of third, 1 third for the water in the foreground, 1 third the building and 1 thirs the sky. But it is hard to identify what you want the observer to look at. I think less water and having the building in the foreground with 2/3 for the wonderful sky would have create a more powerful image. Just my 2 cents thoughts.
Have a great Holiday Season!

Nice colorful image. I love the lights on the clouds. Is this sunset? I wonder how the image would look like in the morning with lights coming from the front left of the photo shining on the buildings and reflecting on the water.   Posted: 12/11/2024 07:25:22

I love the riot of colours in this image. We all have our different artistic viewpoints, and had I been the author of this scene, I might have discarded a portion of the foreground. Considering the reflections are not strong, I would have kept a part of it to add visual weight to the image, but not the whole foreground.   Posted: 12/17/2024 19:06:26
