Old farm in New Mexico by Kirk Gulledge

July 2024 - Old farm in New Mexico

About the Image(s)

This is an old farm near Albuquerque, New Mexico. I took it with my Fuji XT2 with an 18-300mm lens, wide angle at 18mm, f13, 1/250th sec at 1SO 250. I did some cropping and lightened a few dark areas and added a little contrast. I was trying to catch the sense of peace of the farm scene that I felt when we were there.

I love it. Nice and sharp details. Nice sky and clouds. Simply beautiful.
I believe that your image is very slightly slanted to the right, but other than that, I do not have any suggestion for improvement.
Great image.   Posted: 07/16/2024 16:36:49

Thanks so much, Pierre! I'll check the horizon before I use it again.   Posted: 07/27/2024 01:33:29

Hi Kirk. With f/13, you really got deep depth of field. It is sharp and clear from foreground, middle ground to background. It's a bit too warm to me. If your aim is to create the sense of peace. I would tune down to a more cooler color tone and partially unsharpened some areas. It's just my two cents. You really have done great post processing.   Posted: 07/27/2024 00:51:28

Great comments, Frans! Since the image was taken late in the day, the color was much warmer at first, and I thought it was too warm, but maybe I cooled it down too much. Thanks for the thoughts about unsharpening some areas.   Posted: 07/27/2024 01:37:19
