Red Rocks, New Mexico by Kirk Gulledge

December 2025 - Red Rocks, New Mexico

About the Image(s)

This is another image from the Red Rocks area of the Jemez Indian Pueblo in New Mexico. I particularly like it because it has an old fence which serves as a strong leading line to the rock formations in the back. There are also less obvious lines coming in from the dirt road on the left and some trails on the right. The fence forms an actual property line dividing the public part on the left from the private part on the right. I also like the contrast of the Red Rocks against the blue sky.
I took it with my Fujifilm XT2 fairly wide at 16mm, 1/125 sec, f18, ISO-320, handheld. It was a beautiful sunny day which had the bonus of some clouds in the sky, which are sometimes rare in New Mexico.

Very nice. Strong lines with the horizon and the fence providing for great depth. Nice contrast between the Red Rocks and the blue sky (with clouds).
Well done. No suggestion for improvement.   Posted: 12/10/2025 21:02:25

Kirk, beautiful photo. One minor change I would tend to do. I might either back up slightly to get more of the branch (upper right) in the frame, or move forward and remove it. But that's just taste.   Posted: 12/16/2025 16:30:46
