About the Image(s)
In order to get home out on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, I need to take a ferry from various locations. This time I am going via Seattle. It's fun to see the skyline of the city as we ferry towards the other side. Then there is a floating bridge I need to take to the Peninsula. Unfortunately, the naval base is on one side and the Puget Sound on the other, so the bridge closes periodically and we have to wait, sometimes up to an hour for one of the submarines or vessels that need to get through. This was taken with my Nikon Z8, 1/125 sec at f 9.0, ISO 500 and focal length 46mm on a 24-70 zoom. Taken yesterday.

Very nice cityscape. Sharp throughout despite the relatively low shutter speed on a fast-riding boat. A rather Big cruise ship can be seen in the center with the city frames delineated by the Needle on the left and tall dark skyscrapers on the right.
I this case, as there is not much to the perfectly blue sky, I would have probably set the horizon line in the middle rather than the rule of thirds...

Yes, I agree. Too much sky in this one where it's not helping the composition any. Thanks.   Posted: 07/20/2025 00:59:49
Pleasing pic Kathryn sharp and well placed. I possibly would have cropped a large portion of the sky and the same for the water, making the pic a pleasant long landscape. Well done   Posted: 07/16/2025 06:07:42
Hi Kathryn- I've taken that ferry ride a number of times in the past, so your picture brings back a lot of pleasant memories. I tend to agree with Pierre and Geoff about the potential of cropping the top and bottom to make it more of a pano-landscape shot.   Posted: 07/16/2025 14:58:43
Hi Kathryn. I agree with body here. It's a beautiful cityscape with water ripple as the foreground. To me. The water ripples is the POI. Cropping the sky would make it more dynamic.   Posted: 07/24/2025 11:36:17
