About the Image(s)
My picture for December is one I took a couple of years ago in Los Ojos, a tiny village in northern New Mexico. I happened to spot this old wooden barn with a backdrop of the rugged San Juan Mountains. Because of private property it was a bit difficult to get close enough to the barn for a good shot, but I was pleased with the result. I took it with my Fuji XT2 mirrorless camera with a 18-135 lens handheld. It was at 45mm, 1/270 sec, at ISO 200. The sky was dark and the images came out a bit dark, so I used Photoshop and NIK Color Efex to brighten and sharpen the image a bit. I'll enjoy any feedback.

Love the places that you get to to take your pics. The old world charm really comes through. Background of th mountains adds strength to the pic. Dark clouds gives atmosphere. Good one Kirk.   Posted: 12/03/2024 02:06:24

Hi Kirk,
Great image throughout. Ominous clouds, sharp mountains, and perfect sharpness and texture of the barn/out house.
Considering that everything is tack sharp, I am assuming that you selected a narrow aperture.
My only suggestion would be to decrease a tad the overall contrast and to open the shadows a bit (very dark on the right side where the evergreens are dense).
Keep on the good work.   Posted: 12/16/2024 23:53:03

Nice shot. I go to New Mexico once in awhile, but never stopped here. I will in the future. The contrast in the clouds is a bit overdone though. Other than that, great photo.   Posted: 12/17/2024 02:14:39
