About the Image(s)

For this month I found a bee resting on a coneflower and took some photos of it using my iphone 13. It was a bit difficult as the phone kept focusing on other parts of the flower so it appears the flower is sharper than the bee. For editing I cropped the photo and then altered the colors a little to make the photo a bit vibrant.

The bee is reasonably sharp and the out of focus background is well handled. I would crop even more from the top and right side up to the edge of the flower.   Posted: 07/09/2024 18:14:00

Well done on catching such a small subject on your iphone. Did you use straight photo mode? Often when I try macro style subjects I will go to portrait mode so that it focuses more on the subject & less on the background. You may already be doing this.   Posted: 07/10/2024 04:43:46

Hi Diane,

I used the normal photo setting on the iPhone 13 plus. I found that the new phones will focus on the subject if you're using normal distance camera. I think it's a newer feature. I use it instead of portrait mode because for my phone portrait mode doesn't seem to work well unless I am far away.   Posted: 07/19/2024 19:29:33

Hi Jacob,
Great image - nice color palette - fairly sharp. My only suggestion is a different cropping as the right side of the image is not interesting. I took the liberty of modifying your crop by positioning the top right intersection of the rules of 1/3rds.
Keep on the good work.   Posted: 07/16/2024 15:59:42
