The leaf-footed bug found in a passion fruit tree was a marvelous find (thanks, Reinier). The leaf-like structures on the legs are thought to ward off predators.

Cindy,
I like this image. The coloration of the bug clearly fits with the surroundings. And quite interesting texture and lines to that bug.   Posted: 07/06/2024 22:07:54

Wow. Beautiful capture. IF I was forced to make a change, it would be to crop out the vertical branch on the left of the frame.   Posted: 07/08/2024 14:59:04
I see what you mean and I agree. It adds nothing and competes with the subject. Thanks!   Posted: 07/10/2024 19:57:13
What a strange looking insect. And well captured at 600mm! The lovely bokeh allows the main subject to stand out so well.   Posted: 07/09/2024 18:10:51
Thanks! This was taken our first morning in Costa Rica at the Airport Hotel. Great way to start a fantastic trip!   Posted: 07/10/2024 19:58:14
I like the way that this bug is still sharp after your cropping. An interesting creature indeed. Well done.   Posted: 07/10/2024 04:38:44

This is a great photo. The detail is nice and it is an interesting subject. I've never seen an insect like that before. The colors really help make the insect stand out and the details really are sharp. Overall amazing photo.   Posted: 07/15/2024 14:23:32
This is a great close-up image. The bug and its limbs are all in focus, great details, and an interesting subject.
The background is complimentary (colors and non-competing).
Excellent! A keeper.   Posted: 07/16/2024 15:52:35
