About the Image(s)
This was taken last month in South Africa at Madikwe National park, situated in the drier northern part of the country close to the Botswana border. We saw this pair early in the morning in wonderful light. They were unusually relaxed and playful and did not run off into the bush as they usually do.

Tender moment with beautiful lighting. Non compeeting background - good crop - Great gaze of the Right Jackal with light catching its eyes.
Great image - No suggestion for improvement.

Interesting image of this pair - mother and child? I like that the larger one is looking into the camera. They seem to be going uphill, and maybe they were. I might remove or crop out the bright area (snow/water?) in the foreground.   Posted: 12/05/2025 17:42:33
I agree with Dean on the crop and I might rotate a bit counterclockwise so their feet are level. These are difficult when the path's edge is not level. I the depth of field and the sharp image.   Posted: 12/05/2025 21:05:51
I do find the glare from the puddle distracting.
I do like how you were able to blur the background & keep the texture in their coats   Posted: 12/07/2025 01:53:51

I couldn't decide about the puddle. To include it adds a second dimension, but I agree it could also be a distraction. Thanks for all the suggestions.

This is a great photo. The framing is very well done. I think a tighter crop eliminating the bright puddle and a small amount of the sky would help remove the puddle while keeping them centered. Beyond that it is a great photo and the subjects are not at all competing with the background.   Posted: 12/15/2025 02:37:19
