About the Image(s)
For this month I decided to work on a photo of a bird I photographed at the San Diego Zoo. I took the photo around 11 am so the light was harsh. I tried to fix that in editing. For editing I cropped the photo and then adjusted the lighting and contrast. I then tried to darken all of the greens to eliminate the harsh reflected light. The photo was taken using my iphone 13pro.

I like the colors on the bird, which would be vastly improved if shot at a better time of day.
The background is distracting, but not much you can do other than photograph it in a different location.   Posted: 04/08/2025 19:11:14

Hi Jacob,
Although not always possible, being at "eye" level with the animal makes an image more powerful, and also helps decreasing the clutter of the background.
When it is not possible to get at eye level, I like to perform a perspective correction when possible.
I took the liberty to perform a quick correction on your original (as the vertical perspective correction partly crop the image). It is not perfect as the background is still the grass.   Posted: 04/14/2025 23:11:48

Jacob,
I like the color and detail in this bird on the ground. Of course, the grass is very busy but that's where the bird was.   Posted: 04/15/2025 00:48:44

I like the work that you are able to achieve with an iPhone. I do agree with Merv about trying for a better time of the day but with wildlife that isn't always possible   Posted: 04/16/2025 07:45:29
