About the Image(s)
About a month ago we stopped overnight at a state park in Arkansas on our way south. The park contained a small lake with some Cypress trees growing along the shore. I took this image as the sun was descending. In post I converted it to b/w using one of the LR filters and then cropped in quite a bit to make a vertical frame. I added a linear gradient in the bottom right of the frame to darken the grass along the shoreline. Camera - Sony A7R5; 28 - 200 lens; f14.0, 1/100, handheld. I probably didn't need all that depth of field (f14) but previously had been shooting some flowers and didn't bother to change the settings.

I do like the crop & conversion to b&w. I'm not sure how the original would've come up with lightening or whether there would've been enough interest in the lefthand side foreground.
My editing isn't good enough but is it possible to remove the power poles?   Posted: 12/09/2024 20:05:48

Diane,
Yes, very possible to remove and good suggestion. I didn't look that close to see them.   Posted: 12/09/2024 20:24:13

Nice moody scene. Those black blobs close to the lower right of the frame are distracting and could be removed. I think the monochrome conversion works really well to enhance the picture.   Posted: 12/11/2024 14:26:55

Yes, I thought about that too.   Posted: 12/11/2024 17:00:28

Your crop eliminates the mostly uninteresting parts of the scene an allows us to concentrate on the Cypress tree. Well done with the b&w conversion.
The suggestions by Diane, Jas and Pierre are valid and will help to improve the image.   Posted: 12/11/2024 18:30:34

I think this is a great photo. I agree that you did the crop well and eliminated a lot of the unwanted noise. I think that if there was a way to sharpen some of the detail on the right that might help make the tree more distinct from the background or if you could lighten the background but I am unsure if that is possible.   Posted: 12/16/2024 19:03:39
