About the Image(s)
I have taken many night sky images but never of the aurora. In northern Michigan, if the aurora is present typically it can only be seen with use of a camera and then only as muted colors near the horizon. But Oct. 10 of last month was different. The aurora was very strong and clearly visible to the eye although not as saturated and colorful as what the camera was able to detect. The aurora was present in nearly every direction; north, west, east, and overhead. This image was taken looking directly overhead.
This single image was taken with my Sony A7R5 on a tripod. The lens was a 14mm Sigma DG Art 1.4; exposure f1.4 at 3.2 sec; ISO 500. In post, I removed the power lines near the bottom of the image and lightened the image overall.

Great capture of an Aurora Borealis. I seen several of them in Northern Quebec, Island and Greenland, but none of them looked like this one. This is quite amazing.
Were you able to ear it?
In northern Quebec, the First Nations are considering the Aurora Borealis as the spirits of the elders looking after their descendants.   Posted: 11/10/2024 17:26:20
I don't remember hearing anything. I can understand why native peoples would think that the aurora is spiritual.   Posted: 11/11/2024 14:30:33
Stunning. I have never seen an aurora exhibit this behavior of radiating from a point. Love it.   Posted: 11/29/2024 12:36:22
