About the Image(s)
So much anger going around these days. When I arrived at the wetlands there were two people arguing over a parking space in the parking lot. Why I don't know there had to be at least 50 empty spaces. I left them to argue and went to visit the birds in the wetlands. At the first pond an came to I saw a Moor Hen swimming in the open waters with a nice reflection. A HA! A photo opportunity! Then I heard the squawks coming from across the pond. Swimming just as fast she could was a Moor Hen making a gigantic fuss and heading straight for the only other bird visible in the entire pond. As the attacker approached with her head down the surprised loner took off at the run, proving that you can run on water. Before contact was made the runner managed a takeoff and escaped. I did manage a bunch of frames and this is the only one that showed at least one eye for each bird, thus the reason for picking this shot. Over the years I've found that birds of this species just can't get along and if you find two in the same place betting odds are that sooner or later one will charge after the other. The only real problem is getting them to not run away from the camera. This time I got lucky.

We have those rails up here, too, and you're right, they just don't get along. And they cry like someone is picking on them :-)
I didn't see your original, so I don't know how much was cropped, if at all. But whatever was done/not done, the result is really great. They may not be getting along, but there is no danger of being eaten by an alligator, so there's that :-)   Posted: 05/07/2025 16:43:39

As for the crop this is pretty close to full frame in width. There is a little lost as I had to straighten the image. The major crop was reduction from the top and bottom (mostly top) to get the pano format. I thought that since this was all about linear motion the pano would make it a stronger composition.   Posted: 05/07/2025 17:08:48
