Green Anole by Barbara Hunley

July 2024 - Green Anole

About the Image(s)

I had several little Anole’s at my other house that lived among my night blooming plants, and they always seemed agreeable to a photo shoot.

This little Anole was taken with my Nikon D300, Tamron 90 mm macro lens (1/40 sec, f7.1, 1/40 sec, ISO 640) no tripod and natural morning light.

Barbara, great capture of the Anole's face and especially the eye! I would suggest some burning of the top left corner to focus the attention on the face and also to mask the less sharp part of the body. Also maybe burn the bottom left corner a little.   Posted: 07/08/2024 15:44:09

Great capture of an interesting animal Very sharp. The leaf on the left is rather bright but adds some feeling of depth to the image. Darkening it would add more attention to the animal. Another way of presenting it would be to crop out the leaf by copying some other part of the top of the image into its spot.   Posted: 07/10/2024 18:02:31

Hi Barbara: Nice image of the Green Anole, interesting house guests.
Nicely composed with good sharpness on the head and eye, in wildlife photography having the head and eye sharp is important and you achieved this.
Neal has mentioned some bright areas, especially so at the left side of the frame. If you wish it is easy to tone down the brightness somewhat, in my humble opinion think it would really help how your image comes across to the viewer.   Posted: 07/17/2024 00:50:01

Hi Barbara, Fine image of he Anole with sharp focus on the most important parts of the head including eye, mouth and upper breast. The color of the background is complementary to the subject. A suggestion you might consider is removing the upper two leaves on the left, and substitute a simple black background.   Posted: 07/20/2024 19:10:14

Hi Barbara,
Great capture of an Anole. The face is in tack sharp focus.
As mentioned in the above comments, although I would have preferred the whole animal in focus, there is a dept to the image created by having only the 1/3 right in focus.
Lovely.

Great image of this subject. The subject does appear to blend in a bit with the environment, thus all of the suggestions above regarding selective darkening to make the subject stand out from the surrounds. As noted earlier the subject can be emphasized via selective sharpening and tonal adjustment to more effectively relate your story.   Posted: 07/31/2024 21:13:45
