This is quite an interesting image. In this case the subject is effectively nestled amongst the branches, almost to the extent that the bird is de-emphasized. The mottled light across the bird also tends to blend the birds into the surrounding areas. I do find that the shot is slightly overexposed (too bright) such that some of the detail in the bird and foliage is lost. Here I might suggest darkening and adding a bit of contrast to the foliage to bring out the native detail that you have in this image. I might also suggest darkening the background to allow the bird a bit more prominence (although selection of the background and not the bird or foliage will be a challenge).

I have included a version of this image to illustrate my thoughts here. See what you think …   Posted: 07/08/2026 20:57:05

Hi Charles,
Thanks for these constructive comments. I also like the dabble light on the warbler but would have like to have less foliage. Darkening the leaves is helping.   Posted: 07/08/2026 21:34:41

Hi Pierre,

In last months Warbler picture you had great soft lighting and that aspect made that picture sing. In this months picture the sun lighting was not your friend with the shadows on the bird causing a speckled look. Nothing much you could done better in the field.   Posted: 07/09/2026 03:53:30

Such a sweet little yellow warbler. I agree with Charles about the exposure. Such a bright little bird in the sunlight.   Posted: 07/12/2026 21:33:55
