Hi Alane: On my monitor this flower comes across as more of a monochrome which is fine. The overall flower picture is somewhat soft if focus. especially so the central part. For this kind of a presentation the flower would have far greater impact if it was tack sharp.
As there is no shared data I am not exactly certain what your photography process was, so hard to make valid suggestions and comments.   Posted: 04/07/2025 23:12:26

Here we are treated with a close-up view of this bloom. In this monochrome image there is a lot of detail and symmetry. Unfortunately, the image is too soft to keep my interest. In this close-up presentation the detail and structure are both highlighted, but it is so soft that I feel 'cheated' that I cannot see more of this detail. I also was a bit disappointed that no information as to how and why you shot this image was provided. Not one of your better efforts here.   Posted: 04/14/2025 17:13:20

Hi Alane,
Nice B/W Close-up photography. Plenty of details on the center of the flower and the distal ends of the petals.
It would have been very interesting to have some details re: equipment used, setting, post-processing, etc...
One of the main issues with macro and close-up photography is to select the "perfect" subject. This can be quite difficult and frustrating. In my view, there are 2 options available if I can't find the ideal subject: 1) a tight crop of the "perfect" area and 2) the use of Stamping/cloning tools to fill up the "bruised", previously eaten areas, etc...   Posted: 04/14/2025 21:02:37

I had major spinal fusion surgery on February 10 and have suffered some complications. I am having to learn how to walk again and am just at my computer the last couple of weeks for very limited time. Consequently, I was only able to submit the image. I hope to be able to participate more again, as I recover. Thank you for understanding.   Posted: 04/15/2025 21:40:06
