My friend's daughter Clare races in motocross events, and I have been enjoying capturing some shots of her in action.

Hi Kerry. This a good capture of motor cross the rider is in the drive forward position. The main issue I have it looks rather static the bike looks stationary, you could have tried a pan blur to provide movement or waiting until the rider takes off and the spokes of the bike would have been blurred. I like the colour version as the blues and yellows make the rider and bike stand out from the background this to some extent overcomes the static nature of a black and white photo. The drivers leading leg also stands out better in the colour version, showing his drive forward better.   Posted: 07/04/2024 02:14:30

Hey Kerry, I agree with Ronald on most points but also like the black and white version because it seems to make the rder stand out from the background. Bruce   Posted: 07/04/2024 22:21:39

Hi Kerry - great photo - given the shutter speed, looks like you froze the action completely. I like the black and white version better like Bruce. It adds a classic look to the picture and also helps communicate the intensity of the race. You can see some small specks of mud that have been kicked up in front of the bike and great bokeh as well.   Posted: 07/07/2024 23:32:34

I think the image could be improved by a tighter crop. I cropped out the out-of-focus foreground, and took a bit off the top as well. Then I cropped right and left as well. I also opened the shadows a bit and toned down the highlights. Finally, I selected the biker's visor and added brightness to give the face some detail.   Posted: 07/30/2024 01:54:52
