Title: Hitting the Pitch
Occasionally, I try a style of photography that the old-time sports photographers had to put up with. Night sports photography for the Monday morning papers. “Hitting the Pitch” in field hockey was taken completely in manual mode, manual focus, manual lens (given to me by a fellow club photographer just before throwing into a skip bin), high ISO, the EXIF data says 525MM, but this was wrong, as I did not correct the initial settings on my Pentax camera correctly at the beginning. That did not matter, as the old timers would never have had that luxury anyway. In fact, they would have no EXIF data at all, just a negative, usually in B&W. That’s all the newspaper wanted anyway, and that’s all viewers could get.
Pentax K20D Lens Pentax, shot at ? mm, 800/1, F?, ISO 6400.
Processing Topaz, Noise removal, Nik Pro to give B&W.
Most photos I took that night were deleted; focusing manual was a nightmare.
