About the Image(s)

Title: Ouch

Taken at the Roy Rodeo in Roy, Washington. You really learn to appreciate the danger the riders and clowns face when going up against the horns of these huge bulls. If you look closely, you can see the horn impaling the cowboy’s chest.

Bruce, another "OUCH" image. Thank G'd the tip of the horns are clipped. Yes, I have seen situations similar in my visits to the Rodeo fields. The image is at peak of action, and sharp.   Posted: 08/07/2026 14:05:00

Hi Bruce. Another great action photo from a rodeo. Could not be much more dramatic than this one. Superbly cropped giving the viewer a closeup of the horn penetrating the cowboy. Marvelous photo.

It is interesting to see the many rodeo photos from the American side of the group. In Australia this sport has been subjected to animal rights protestors. Only 1 state in Australia, Victoria allows steeplechase horse events. Even long distance flat races have come into question as they have had horses collapsed and died on track.   Posted: 08/13/2026 21:47:48

awesome shot! That has to hurt! I've never been to a rodeo. So I don't even know how it works to shoot it. Would you be able to be even lower to the ground so you would have the head of those people on the background? I bet they are making some interesting faces.   Posted: 08/14/2026 05:11:50
