Bruce, the soccer master. There is no better result than a prime long lens 400 mm f/2.8. Three japs vs one swiss. Peak of action. Sharp.   Posted: 07/09/2025 00:17:56

Thanks Isaac, I appreciate your title for me as the soccer master. I am thank fortunate to have had the opportunity to get access to many high level games along with playing, coaching, teaching, traveling at a high level. My most important thought on getting great images not only for sport it just being there. Bruce   Posted: 07/09/2025 15:06:46

Hi Bruce. Another fine soccer photo crystal clear almost as though you could reach out and participate. Players and ball all perfectly centred so the eye cannot wander somewhere else. Players boots almost telling the story of the contest for you. Was this a Canon L lens, it appears so from IQ and at 400mm F2.8 tripod or monopod this lens would be very heavy?   Posted: 07/10/2025 00:16:18

Thanks Ronald, Yest this is an Canon L lens. It is my favorite lens for both sports and wildlife. I always produces a nice background. Bruce   Posted: 07/14/2025 22:53:29

The image is very sharp for 1/1000 sec. I was surprised. Peak of action and fantastic shot. Love the blur from the 2.8 as well.   Posted: 07/10/2025 13:48:50

Thanks Don, I mostly shoot at 1/1000 for soccer get good results. Depending on the light, I sometimes go as low as 1/800. Bruce   Posted: 07/14/2025 22:55:47

awesome shot and it must have been an awesome experience to be on the field of such an important event! I haven't shot any sport inside a stadium since I moved to California but I hope I can shoot something soon. The stadiums around here have amazing lights compared to the Brazilians ones I've shot.   Posted: 07/11/2025 21:04:47

Andre, they have this ridiculous rule that you can not enter the venue as an spectator with a lens longer than 8 inches.   Posted: 07/22/2025 22:04:43

Thanks Andre, Is is very difficult to get a credential to the World Cup and feel lucky to have had the opportunity. I have taken 14 and 16 year old boys to Rio and Argentina. Not the best fields there either. We played against Botafogo and Vansco and even they were not the best. In Argentina we played on a surface I called Astrophalt, is was made from asphalt. Yeah. It's crazy in Brazil. I've shot some soccer matches in Rio. Even the bigger stadium has pretty lame lights. I've never been to a soccer match in Argentina but that one stadium in Buenos Aires with the super steep stands must be a crazy experience.   Posted: 07/23/2025 01:16:12

I can only echo what everyone has said. And I think Bruce has it exactly right -- I love seeing through the "soccer master's" viewfinder.   Posted: 07/29/2025 05:00:31
