Red or Yellow Card? by Don James

February 2025 - Red or Yellow Card?

About the Image(s)

Title - Red or yellow card?

This is from a game on Sunday in Raleigh, NC. The player in the red decided to lower his shoulder and absolutely destroy the player in the blue. You can see in his eyes he’s shifted from the ball, leveling the player in blue (and he was getting his fists and shoulder ready, too). This was not on the ball, rather he did it because the blue player was about to overtake him and get to the ball first. In subsequent pictures, the blue player landed on his tailbone and flipped on his head.

Nikon Z9 with Nikkor Z 70-200mm lens; 1/2500 sec, F/2.8, 100 ISO.
I enhanced the colors and contrast a little bit and cropped the image.

Don, I believe that the falling and flipping of the blue player would have told the story in a stronger fashion. Interesting image anyway.   Posted: 02/17/2025 21:23:03

Hi Isaac, thanks for the comment! I did capture the next photos of the player getting knocked over. My initial reaction when I looked at them was the look on the other player's face having seen what just happened. I'm attaching the pics here for your review. Not edited or cropped - you can see it was a pretty violent outcome. I'll submit the next two photos to another reply.   Posted: 02/18/2025 02:00:18
