Hi Tom. Welcome to the group. Your progression in photograpy as per lack of money much the same as myself, I bought B&W film usually Ilford and converted the print film into reversal slides. I even scrounged chemicals from my schools chemistry lab did not even buy reversal film, print film cheaper.
Your photo I love as I have taken many Rugby Union and League photos and know where you are coming from. Its a game of the great struggle between the beasts of men and their struggle to keep or gain that piece of gold, the ball. You have honed right in on the intensity of the two central players capturing their faces. Player to the left could have also been fully included but not always possible, full head shots are better than portions. A fine shot don't mind more of these.   Posted: 02/04/2025 23:43:53

Welcome, Tom! Glad that you have joined our group. Picture is sharp and tells a great story. The big guy holding the ball almost looks like he's laughing like he's thinking he has the ball and nobody is going to get it from him. Is this cropped? Would be great to see a little more the picture, but not necessary. Great shot!   Posted: 02/06/2025 03:06:49
