About the Image(s)

Title: Mirror Image ??“ Almost

“Mirror Image ??“ Almost” was created a few years ago in Homestead Military Airfield during an air show. I think this was my first experience photographing an air show, and I did not know what to expect. I was shooting everything, and most of the time using bursts.

Used my first professional camera, Nikon D3S with the Nikkor zoom lens 200-400 mm f/4 @ 210 mm and these settings: ISO 400, f/8 and 1/1000 sec (lucky me that the image is sharp). The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped.

Isaac - unbelievable shot. It shows the amazing capabilities of the Airforce pilots and how they operate within a such a small margin of error. It looks like the pilot in the plane on the top is actually looking at you and posing for the picture and creates a sense of wonder - where where you when you took the shot? Where you in a plane take the photograph or could it have been a drone up in the sky. Without the additional details you provided, I wouldn't have had any clue. Is it possible to get a little more space in front of the planes? Great picture!   Posted: 12/07/2024 14:13:58

Don, I was down in planet earth's ground. No drones allowed when airplanes are flying.....   Posted: 12/10/2024 12:01:34

Hi Isaac. A well timed capture both planes in a mirror affect. What is also noticable that the exhaust smoke is different for both planes, this gives the photo a genuine look. I would not be surprised that some judges may say that the photo is 1 plane duplicated and turned around in photoshop. I have seen this type of evaluation before, a great photo. If you go to any further events like this you could try a pan blur.   Posted: 12/15/2024 18:22:36
