About the Image(s)

Welcome September. If you are attending the PSA Festival conference catch the video loop on Interclub EOY. Unfortunately, Paul and I are not going this year. The video is of the Interclub Medal winners End of Year images and took me days to make. The photography from all divisions is wonderful and I think the slideshow turned out pretty good. :-). This month’s art work is quick work as my time has been spent on this video.
This month’s artwork is from a cell phone image of a rose BETTY BOOP in my garden, I did my typical steps of selection, drew in the leaves and created the background. I then used the mixer brush technique on the rose. Next I tried to create a more painterly edge look using a bristle brush. I don’t think it is my best work but I do like the edges a bit better and will work on the technique a bit more. Finding the right brush is quite a task. I am still looking.

I like how you can compliment your subject adding your own draw and how you experiment with another brushes, to get different effects.
Well done.   Posted: 09/23/2023 22:20:53

Thank you Martha, I feel it is a beginning, but appreciate your kind remarks.   Posted: 09/24/2023 10:54:47

I love it. The brush strokes on the petals and leaves are fantastic, as always. Soft strokes where needed, and sharper towards the center of the flower.
I especially like the pink, complementary, reference in the background. And placing the flower "out of the frame" adds a great 3-dimensional look. Excellently done.   Posted: 09/24/2023 08:51:52

Thank you Cindy. I sometime question the border because it does make it more digital but I tend to do that a lot.   Posted: 09/24/2023 10:55:44

Nancy, don't put it down; your rose image looks just lovely to me! I like the carry-over of the pale pink from the flower into the white vignetted background especially. The open one plus the bud give a sort of life cycle view of this variety that I find pleasing, with your thin inset border to tie things together. It's a keeper.   Posted: 09/26/2023 12:24:12
