August 2026 - Night Walks

Night is my favorite time of the day. I was in Porto, and this was a calm, cool night at the end of October. I decided to take a stroll around the old city and came upon this group enjoying the evening outside of a caf?© I found out was their after-dinner local meeting place. I smiled, captured my image, wished them a good night, and kept walking. I used a Sony @7cr at f/5.6; 1:90; ISO Auto and a 24-70 mm lens. Meter set at “Multi”. Edited in LR and Nik Collection, Siver Effex9

This is a strong street photograph with a lot to engage the viewer. The scene offers rich visual detail, supported by compelling geometric shapes, verticals, and horizontals that give the frame structure and rhythm. I also like the separation among the people, which helps each figure read clearly within a busy environment. The concrete line entering from the bottom left is especially effective as it leads the eye directly into the action and becomes a strong visual axis connecting the people in the scene.
A few small distractions pull attention away from that strength. The bright sign in the upper left competes with the main activity; you might consider cropping in from the left to remove it, or, if you want to keep it, reducing its brightness. I'd also consider toning down the two bright reflected areas at the top right, one on the building face and the other in the corner window, so they don't draw the eye away from the story.
Overall, this is a very good street image: well balanced, layered with depth, technically solid, and it successfully suggests a moment with an interesting story.

Hi Cisco. Night is also my favorite time. and as I have been in Portugal this month, I find it very interesting country. I may suggest horizontal and closed frames, as more narrative way without environmental noise. you could have kept out the A/C appliances. well done! Posted: 08/22/2026 16:10:16
Cisco, this is a nicely captured street scene. I like the wide tonal range and the strong pools of light mixed with the various patterns and shapes.
There is not alot of interaction between the people which adds to the relaxed atmosphere of the image.

A nice street scene Cisco. Thank you for sharing as it broadens the scope of street photography for myself. Your presentation in mono is most suitable for this particular image and the shadows from the backlighting are great. Posted: 08/24/2026 06:31:00
