About the Image(s)

Stepping out of the parking lot and heading toward Main Street, my eyes were drawn to an unexpected subject ??” an electrical power setup tucked away behind a distillery. From a photographer’s perspective, it was the interplay of angles and lines that instantly grabbed my attention. The structure’s bold vertical elements stood out powerfully against the subtle horizontal lines, creating a dynamic tension within the frame. With these compositional features in mind, I knew this scene was destined for black and white. The absence of color would emphasize the strong architectural contrasts, allowing the viewer’s eye to travel along the lines and explore the geometry of the setup. As I composed the shot, I noticed a deep black oil spot grounding the image, adding a layer of intrigue and mystery that enhanced the mood I wanted to evoke. Tech stuff: f/6.3, 1/2000 sec, ISO 200, -1 step exposure bias, 85mm focal length (prime lens), 1.6 aperture. I used LR, PS, and Topaz to process the image.

I think it is always good when a street photographer sees something out on the streets and knows immediately how they want to take the photo and what the finished photo will look like.
You have shown a lovely interplay of lines in a fairly abstract object that you stumbled across.
You may even have a colour alternative by adding back the yellow tubular barrier in front of the black and white image!
A nice image and well seen

I prefer the B&W version. I find the visual composition and the play between lines interesting. The image's definition, contrast and texture work well. Well done.   Posted: 11/11/2025 04:44:55

The mono version of this abstract subject is the correct choice and places an emphasis on the "lines" of it. Nicely seen.   Posted: 11/11/2025 05:36:04

I like how the lines intersect with each other. How would the photo look if it were taken strategically at a 90-degree angle? Good job, well done.   Posted: 11/12/2025 03:35:20

Once again I vote for Mono Color. I would suggest a crop, to leave out the street and let the lines do all the conversation.   Posted: 11/12/2025 10:39:33
