On Lhasa Street by Tom Lee

July 2025 - On Lhasa Street

About the Image(s)

I captured this image in Lhasa during my travels through Tibet. I was truly surprised to see so many devoted pilgrims journeying to Lhasa to worship. As the most sacred city in Tibetan Buddhism, Lhasa holds deep spiritual significance??”many Buddhists hope to visit at least once in their lifetime. The culture here is uniquely vibrant and profoundly different from any other place I’ve visited.
It was taken with a Samsung tablet, set at 1/230 sec, f/2.7, ISO 3200, and 4 mm focal length. I processed it with Lightroom and Photo AI??”initial tonal tweaks in Lightroom, noise smoothed out in Photo AI, and final local masks for dodging and burning to sculpt the interplay of light and shadow.

Interesting building and colours. I like the diagonal across the image and the details on the buildings and structures. A serene mood, religious people waiting for the opportunity (I think) to say their prayers.
An attractive and intriguing image.   Posted: 07/08/2025 11:30:39

I like the colors and the perspective. It leaves a suspicion of the continuity of everyday life.   Posted: 07/09/2025 17:52:28

Everyday life well illustrated and authentic colours well reflected and processed. If only one could do some mind reading ????   Posted: 07/13/2025 07:59:34

Tom, I like the leading line of people to draw you through the image. You used a tablet for the shot, interesting. Why did you choose that instead of a phone or a camera? The street rectangles contrast with other geometric shapes within the image, especially the lines in the lap coverings and the dress in the background. I think you can crop off a portion of the top so you utilize the power line (?) as a leading line of the building from the top right corner. A nice shot.   Posted: 07/18/2025 16:24:40
