About the Image(s)

This image was taken one afternoon while "fishing" in Rundle Mall in Adelaide. I selected a shop with a hoarding of a lady in a yoga position stretched across it as my backdrop and waited for people to walk into my "scene." I love the interaction of the couple who walked into this image. Tech stuff: Canon 5D Mark IV, f/9, 1/200, ISO 160, Canon 70 -200mm f/4L lens at 80mm.

A lovely story telling scene and the moment perfect in capturing the couple walking into the picture. The couple is looking ever so happy and carefree. Well done Martin.   Posted: 04/11/2025 18:38:08

Martin, a very nice capture, and you're right about fishing from this location. The poster model looks down to the couple and the man at the woman, and the woman back to the right. giving the image a nice circular rotation for the eye. The image would benefit from some dodge and burn, especially the left to darken the background and the shadow portion of the poster. Since the light comes from the right, perhaps some dodging at the top right would bring more contrast to the image. The image also has that magical "3" to it!   Posted: 04/11/2025 19:36:59

Thanks for your comments, Trey. Is this what you are suggesting regarding the dodging and burning?   Posted: 04/13/2025 03:27:28

A great mood transpires from the couple, enjoying a walk and the day. It was well-timed, allowing the background to be part of the main subject and composition. Good juxtaposition and image definition.   Posted: 04/13/2025 00:55:53

Hi Martin, This is a beautiful and vivid image. Your choice of shutter speed perfectly froze the motion and captured the couple's facial expressions with great clarity. While the couple enjoyed their conversation, the lady in the poster almost seemed to join in - eyes closed, as if amused by their exchange.

Your adjustment based on Trey's suggestion added a pleasing dimension to the image. Well done!   Posted: 04/13/2025 16:13:51
