I captured this image of the hill during a trip to Greece. Steeped in myth, it’s said to have been shaped by Athena herself ??” an ancient sentinel overlooking the city. Drawn by its commanding presence while shooting around town, I set out toward it, knowing full well I couldn’t reach its summit on foot. The winding road led me through the landscape until I stumbled upon this spot to frame this shot.
It was taken with a Lumix G9 Mk2 and a Leica 12-60mm lens, set at 1/200 sec, f/8, ISO 100, and 60mm focal length. I processed it with Lightroom and Photo AI ??” initial tonal tweaks in Lightroom, noise smoothed out in Photo AI, and final local masks for dodging and burning to sculpt the interplay of light and shadow.

Looking at this image and added to my limited knowledge, of street photography, I personally do not get the story telling of this image. The overhead lines detract from the scene and is somewhat disturbing ? Kindly correct me should I have missed the aim of the author. Together we can all learn from what it is that depicts "street photography"   Posted: 04/11/2025 18:53:28

Gerhard, looking back at this image with your comments in mind, I agree: while there's a street, people, and even a majestic mountain, what it truly lacks is a story.

Tom this is an interesting photo. I like the leading lines of the tram tracks and the framing by the vertical poles. These factors all draw my eye towards the brightly lit building and then upwards to the chapel on top of the hill. I like the suggestion of a "net" created by the overhead wires, they give the impression of holding the image together, if that was your intention.
I am in two minds about the bright signs on the left hand side of the image. Compositionally, one might say that they should be cropped out, but as far as the story goes, the arrow sends my eye back into the main image and to the two motorcyclists in the foreground.
An interesting suburban scene. Well done.

I agree with Tom. My eyes followed the line of poles leading to and framing the monastery (?) at the top of the hill. At the same time, the cable cross lines, "sliced" the image in portions as if part of an assembled puzzle. Good image.   Posted: 04/13/2025 00:53:23
