About the Image(s)
Photo 0607 is from my journey to Syros island in Cyclades in 2019 to visit NEORION (where ships are repaired) -an American interest company. The workmen were very hospitable and helped me have any photograph I wanted.
Photo 2054 is from my 2024 trip to Messolonghi, to the main Greek Salt Lakes, to photograph the collection of the salt.

Sorry Marevi, I did not realize we could comment on both images. I am with Trey, the "red" pole is a distraction and I would remove it.   Posted: 03/20/2025 03:03:46
Marevia, nice captures in both regards. I feel you left the blue & green tank in to create a threesome. The arc welding is so bright that it's immediately where the eye goes. To my eye, I would have cropped the image at the left elbow of the man holding the metal piece because the hand directs the eye back down to the reflected light from the welding. The beam overhead also descends into the holder of the metal, creating a loop within the image. I've worked in a factory and this image captures the environment well.
As to the salt flats image, why did you choose to leave the red post in the image? Not knowing your position restrictions, I see that it does match the red further within the image. The man gives perspective as to the size of the machinery, and I like the repeating track wheels. The distant van also makes me wonder if the man used it to get to work and why you included it. Your image is tightly cropped on the left. Why didn't you crop it tightly to the right of the man? The image is sharp, and I like the texture of the salt flats and the machinery face.

Hi, Trey. yes that's the reason I left the tank. I did't like to crop on the left, seemed a little claustrophobic and I gave some space as on the right.
as to the salt image, nothing was moving, only the man. I could move only left or right at exactly that distance. the red post goes with the whole machinery. and as it was enormus the machinery I wouldn't like to crop on the right, due to claustrophobic... again. difficult area due to substance, salt, water and not allowed to step anywhere it suits me,especially for my safety. thank you for your comments!   Posted: 03/19/2025 18:40:16

My apologies if I missed something? Which image is applicable for us to comment on ?
The "welding scene" is a nightmare image for exposure and the contrast far greater than any camera can handle unless it is compensated for . ? Should one try and blur the busy background and leave the story telling to the workers ?   Posted: 03/19/2025 12:41:19

Gerhard, you may comment on both image. For this month, Marevia didn't know that the second image was to be the original image as taken in the camera. It's a new group!   Posted: 03/19/2025 15:06:34
Hi, Gerhard! I may owe an appology, this is my first time here and I don't know how it works. as for the image you commented, and as I know how to blur, I desided to "leave" the workers into the abience, for me this is the whole story, where they are working and not only what kind of work they do. thank you for your comment.   Posted: 03/19/2025 18:51:48
Thank you for your explanation Marevi. Being a new group we have so much to learn from one another and I am looking forward to it.
