About the Image(s)
I was out shooting photos in a tree area near a lake (Lake of the Woods) in Oregon we were at and came across this log. I was looking at the roots and don't think I saw the white to form an eye until I saw image on the screen, Looks to me like a sea serpent emerging out of water.

James, you have breathed life into this root. I see what you mean about the "eye". Nice blurred background although I find the lack of sharpness in the actual root (at the top left) a bit of a distraction - to me, it would have been good to have the same sharpness across the entire main subject. You find such interesting, quirky things to shoot in your travels.   Posted: 08/08/2026 19:43:46
Technically, very well done with nice focus and great details in your subject and a nicely blurred background which helps your subject stand out. I think the monochrome treatment fits the subject. Looks like a lobster to me!   Posted: 08/09/2026 21:36:43
Well captured, James …. Can't help thinking there's more to this image than it appears here ?????? Cindy has a point !!!   Posted: 08/19/2026 23:14:54

Intriguing photo. My brain keeps thinking "creature" when I know it is not. Engaging. I like it in b&w as I think color would take away from the intrigue. I also noticed the softness at the top left, as Lorna did. Fun shot!   Posted: 08/20/2026 01:52:54
