About the Image(s)
I took this image of a white tailed sea eagle at a local wildlife park called Fota. Living environment for the animals/ birds gives them a lot of open space. This guy lives in a huge enclosure surrounded by chainlink fencing and netting over the top…lucky to get a clean shot of him by putting my lens over a single small hole in the fencing. Bright conditions, Canon R6 MK3…100 - 500 at 200mm….1/125, f5.6,ISO100. My processing was in lightroom, mainly cropping and exposure adjustment…I also removed a branch which was hiding part of his plumage.

Nice sharp image especially cropped. I like the tonal range and the angle of the eagle. I might try to lighten his eye and darken the background a little. Your focus is very good separating the Eagle from the background. Nice job Posted: 08/02/2026 21:31:51

Ger, Great job:
1> Capturing the image through obstructing fencing, and using a wide aperture (I'm assuming your 100-500 maxis at f4 or f5.6) to naturally blur the background
2> Post cropping, and removing the branch. I can see that you did brighten the exposure around the eye , without blowing-out the feather detail in the crown.

Ger, yes I agree. Perfect crop and lovely capture of the eagle's pose. I think you have done a fine job of separating the eagle from the nicely blurred background. I think the BW works very well with your post-processing sharpening highlighting the feathers just the perfect amount - they almost glow! Nice job! Posted: 08/08/2026 19:49:19

Wow! I like everything about this image - focus, tonal range (pure white to pure black), exposure and the crop. Nicely handled and a captivating image. The bird stand out so well from the dark, blurred background. Posted: 08/09/2026 21:43:32

Fabulous image. The details in the feathers leaves one to reach out and touch them. The crop is great. I think this one would be just as amazing in color as B&W... just a different feel. Posted: 08/20/2026 12:51:21
