About the Image(s)
I loved the old building and the clouds (spectacular day of clouds). I took it both with and without the person peering trough the door. I understand many feel the person distracts; for me, it gives life and a story.

I like the person looking in the window. It adds to help make a story. To me the blacks were not fully there.
You got good exposure and sharp detail. I might play around if you go back and shoot from a lower angle and a little me to the left show looking down the walkway and have post past the house. Nice job.

Hello Kathy. "A Peek Into the Past" - the women looking into the cabin is central; composition challenges in the original:
1> 80% of the scene is brightly lit, requiring sunny 16 exposure settings (please post your camera settings)
2> The cloudy sky, rich greenery, wood & stone have much detail, and don't present as background or negative space
3> The part of the composition you want us to see is in shadow, while the more vivid surroundings dominate.
A more intimate image limited to the woman and the face of the cabin in shadow, exposed for shadow, may work better for the intended subject matter. Posted: 08/04/2026 17:42:02

Thank you for the input. I see what you are saying and it makes sense. For me, I was SO intrigued by the building, person looking in, but also the clouds (where I live we rarely get clouds and, when we do, never like this). Kathy, I like the person looking into the window - they contribute to an interesting story and support the title. Like Charles, I find the brightness of the sky and clouds a bit overwhelming, detracting from the cabin and the person. Although I don't have info on your post-processing, my guess is that you sharpened the image quite a lot in the conversion. However, sharpening is something we can overdo a bit, as is the case here, I think. Maybe try pulling back on that (or the texture slider) and see what you think. Posted: 08/08/2026 20:23:35

Your composition is good as are your subject and title. For my taste, it feels over sharpened and "crunchy". I think backing off on that and cropping down on the top to eliminate such a bright sky would enhance your photo. Posted: 08/09/2026 21:51:20
