About the Image(s)
I took this shot a couple of years ago in Holland with my Fujifilm X-T10. 1/60 sec, f/10, ISO 1600. It is January so converting the original sombre and almost monochrome colour palette to BW (in LR and NIC Silver Efex) made the image slightly stronger, to my eye. I also, in LR, did a slight horizontal transformation to the original giving the image a more formal, symmetrical composition (not to everyone’s taste, but…), cropped it to an almost, but not quite, square format and increased the exposure on the bicycles using a radial gradient. I welcome your comments.

Hello Lorna. This is a great find, the build of these bikes combined with the brick lined pavement gives the scene a timeless quality. Not that it needs it, but, if you continue to work on this image you might add a vignette, and reduce the brightness/reflection in the windows. What do you think?   Posted: 07/13/2025 19:43:23
Hi James, I don't mind the tightness of the square crop (although I did try it and found I liked the custom crop better) but the very dark window I find pulls my eye away from the main subject, the bikes. No?   Posted: 07/23/2025 22:27:14
You are right. I was so focused on reflection in window. Thanks for pointing that out.   Posted: 07/24/2025 15:52:32
Lovely image.......I like the composition with lots of frames ie window, climbers, bricks, which seem to complement one another   Posted: 07/23/2025 11:50:15
