About the Image(s)

I shot these delicate “skeletons” with my Nikon D750 using a tripod with my 105 mm macro lens so I could focus in very close. 1/4 sec at f/22, ISO 1250. I started out in LR taking down the highlights and increasing the texture, clarity and vibrance just a bit, and increasing the sharpness and noise reduction. I also decreased the orange luminance to darken it a little. The BW conversion was done in LR - I don’t always do this but thought I would try a BW preset and found I liked the result. I also cropped the image a little to eliminate the shiny edges of the bowl caused by the somewhat direct lighting. I like the hues in the colour version but also like the slight moodiness of the monochrome. Your thoughts?

The monochrome version shows the textures so much better than the color version. The shapes and textures are so interesting, although I find myself looking for a focal point. For me, there is not enough contrast to make the subjects "pop". I increased the range of tones.   Posted: 04/10/2025 16:08:37
