About the Image(s)

I was doing portraits and headshots for a friend of mine's wife for her business cards. We decided to try some different things, and one of them was to try and show that she was frustrated in a realtor. I chose monochrome, as I felt it would be more traumatic.
This was shot with my Nikon D850, 24-70 F2.8 lens at 48mm. ISO was 800, Shutter was 1/60 with a 22" octagon on my camera (as I forgot my remote receivers) at F/8. Look forward to hear comments from everyone.

Environmental Portraiture; for me it's not as easy as it first appears. Great job in conveying her frustration, and exhaustion while removing distracting elements that don't add to the story. As an environmental portrait it was challenging for you to tell the viewers that she is a realtor with what you had to work with in this scene, but a strong image none the less!   Posted: 03/09/2025 16:04:01

Technically, this is perfection. Everything is handled well - exposure, focus, contrast. You have great tones and I agree that the monochrome works well. It tells a good story; but I'm not sure it's the frustration of a realtor. I thought she was having trouble paying her mortgage before I read your description. It doesn't matter which story though!   Posted: 03/14/2025 16:20:04

I agree with much of what Charles and Cindy have said. The technical aspects of the image are well handled and the BW conversion helps remove the colour distractions in the original image. From the title, I wouldn't have made any assumptions about the source of her obvious frustration and/or exhaustion. However, the question "Why me?" is intriguing and begs us to put our imaginations to work. Nicely done!   Posted: 03/20/2025 00:44:11
