Chuck, I like this image of a piece of history. However, I would like to see the recipe box taking up more of the frame first to eliminate some of the distracting background elements (the chair and the table grain) and to focus on the hand-writing on the cards. Cropping in decreases the image sharpness so, if you get a chance, this might be one to try again at a shorter focal length. Nice tones and good texture on the box - all the stories this recipe box could tell!   Posted: 01/14/2025 03:32:37

I like the idea of using old heritage items in still life photos. I think you have a good main subject, however, it gets lost in the distracting background. I would recommend a set-up of the recipe box and some kitchen items to tell a story rather than just sitting it on the table. The recipes and box are in god focus. This could make a very meaningful fine art piece for your family.   Posted: 01/17/2025 02:21:22

I really like this and the thinking behind it.....I have some pieces of antiquity from my family which I've done nothing with....you've given me some ideas with this shot..
A lovely piece of family history.....I think for historical context you might consider a background more in keeping with its vintage and maybe with a vintage kitchen background....maybe a little less order and cleanliness...spilt flour, open butter wrapping ???   Posted: 01/17/2025 17:06:05
