About the Image(s)
I took this image at a local wetlands area near my home. I’ve always loved the colors of a male wood duck. I though this was particularly interesting because I caught him slurping some water.
Settings: Canon R7, Canon 200-800mm lens shot at 800mm, ISO 640, 1/400 sec, f9.0.

This is a great photo. The colors are good, the subject is sharp and stands out from the surrounding green foreground and background, and very nice reflection. If I were to suggest anything you might crop in a little tighter.

This is one of my favorite ducks. The colors always remind me of the paint by number paintings that are areound. I agree wiht Alan, a tighter crop woudl give you a different image. I could crop from the bottom up. Probaly look at how the duck would look with the waterline on the duck being closer to level. To me it looks like the duck is going up hill.   Posted: 08/23/2026 23:20:43
Thanks I'll give that a try!   Posted: 08/23/2026 23:41:08
Hi,Beautiful capture of the wooduck in motion and stream of water from bill.I liked the non obtrusive background with the soft reflections of reeds and folliage.I agree with other members to crop in, especially from the bottom.I wish the feather colors could pop more, perhaps more saturation?   Posted: 08/25/2026 07:16:37
