I have an affinity for lighthouses, having visited and photographed nearly 300 lighthouses. Pictured here is the Boom Island lighthouse with the Minneapolis skyline in the background. Although on the Mississippi River, this lighthouse, built in 1987, has no real purpose. Located in a city park, it is purely decorative.

Alan,
Night photography of cityscapes is never easy, so you did a great job in getting this shot. I love the color saturation of the background and that you got the lighthouse too. My only suggestion for improvement would be to hav moved a bit to your right to get the lighthouse squared up. It is a bit off center. You might also check the purples. Do you want that much purple in the sky? Maybe yes?   Posted: 08/07/2026 18:28:10

Perhaps a bit over saturated?
I did crop in from the left a tad to remove a distraction. Perhaps I should have cropped a bit further?   Posted: 08/08/2026 21:28:57

Hi,Nice example of ambient and artificial light.Reflections were nicely balanced and exposed.I would like to see more of bluish tint in the water and perhaps crop more on the left border.   Posted: 08/25/2026 07:37:09
