About the Image(s)

Discussion:
Sometimes you just have to play around. This morning my wife and I were at the kitchen table having breakfast when we noticed the now melting frozen rain drops on the roof of our patio. I knew I had to capture some photos. I set up the tripod inside the house looking out through the glass patio door and pondered how to create an interesting composition. In this photo I placed the intersection of two roof supports at a power point and tilted the camera to add a bit of interest to the composition. This is why the now melting icicles are at a slant rather than being vertical.

Technical:
Nikon Z8, Z 100-400 lens @ 210mm, 1/100 sec @ f/8, ISO 1600, 50 images were taken with the focus stacking feature of the camera, 20 of them were combined into a single image with Helicon Focus, post processing of the focus stacked image with Lightroom Classic.

Very creative shot! I'm glad you tilted the camera to provide more interest.Excellent placement of the power point.I think you captured the melting icicles most effectively on the top of the image.   Posted: 04/07/2026 06:55:38

You took a modern abstract photo. Very creative and a good catch to see it. I love the lines and ice drips. In looking at this photo I wonder how it would look in B & W   Posted: 04/13/2026 16:20:06
