Hippie Skellie by Cindy Post

April 2026 - Hippie Skellie

About the Image(s)

Nikon Z 6 iii, ISO 100, 70 mm, f/6.3, 1/125

I took this photo at the Hippie Fest in Tarpon Springs, Florida last summer. She was sitting in a VW bus and it was a very bright day. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on how to better edit this photo.

Cindy,
What a fun shot! You lucked onto a fun event! The image itself is well lit and has good sharpness. Sounds like the skeleton was in a car, so you could not help clipping the top of the head. You might consider blurring and perhaps darkening the background area. There is a bright patch on the lower left edge that is distracting. Easy enough to clone out!   Posted: 04/02/2026 18:56:22

I like the tight crop and the choice to shoot in monochrome.I found the bright white light in the border on the Lt. to be a bit of a distraction but could be easily removed with cloning as David suggested.   Posted: 04/06/2026 05:20:33

Scary! I would like to see better separation between the subject and the background. As David mentioned, I suggest blurring and darkening the background.   Posted: 04/10/2026 03:02:09

Cindy, this picture is really great. I think having it without color makes it interesting. I did not really notice the background as much and when I went back I thought it added to the concept of being a hippie traveling in a van. I think the picture is sharp and the eye is creepy, though that is no fault of yours.   Posted: 04/12/2026 13:59:29

What a fun image. I like how the one eye shows up but even lighten the eye just a little to make it stand out a little more. The B & W conversion works well.   Posted: 04/13/2026 15:34:29
