IMAGE DESCRIPTION & INTENDED EFFECT
I snagged a flower from a bouquet my wife bought and stuck it in a skinny vase and captured this image from above. It was a rather dark and drab time of year around Boise when I captured this and I was looking to work with a little color.
POST PROCESSING STEPS
I lightened the shadows down in the petals a bit and added a subtle vignette.

Nice perspective, and a good background color. The gradual focus fall-off helps spotlight the center of the bloom. You did a very good job with just a supermarket bouquet!   Posted: 03/15/2025 08:40:31
Thank you Craig, I appreciate that!   Posted: 03/15/2025 08:53:29
This is an interesting perspective, giving a bit of an abstract look to your photo. I agree with Craig, I like how the focus falls off, adding to the abstract feeling of the photo.   Posted: 03/15/2025 10:54:34
Thanks Alan, the focus fall off does work well here. I'm never shy about admitting a little luck and I had it here. That f/1.2 often leaves such a sharp edge between what's in focus and what is not, and those nice soft tapering leaves mask it well!   Posted: 03/16/2025 16:17:19
