About the Image(s)
Description: I do rarely miss this annual event. It is interesting that this time round
the sailing boats reached the open sea in a blink of an eye due to the favourable wind
conditions. This image was chosen primarily due to the vibrant colours of the sails.
The image was colour only colour corrected and slightly cropped - no other eddiing was performed. Nikon Z6II, 70-200 lens.

Hi Mark. I like how you've framed this up and provided enough room to see the surroundings, w/out leaving too much. The big flash of pink is interesting amongst rest of the relatively neutral tones too. One thought to consider would be to check your horizon line for level, it's leaning a bit from right to left, which can distract from your subject.   Posted: 12/13/2024 00:08:09

One other thought... there's some really cool detail in there with the sailors all working this race, if you've got the resolution (or can zoom next time), consider showing some of that closer up detail.   Posted: 12/13/2024 00:11:24

I very much like this image. Your composition is spot on, capturing the closeness of the competitive action between the boats. Years ago I was a member of a sailing team racing on a local lake. It was great fun!! As Josh mentioned, I hope you have some close up photos of the action on the boats themselves.   Posted: 12/14/2024 21:28:59

Hi Josh, Alan. Thank you for the feedback. On thing for sure is that I will checkout the horizon.
I have got some closer shots that showcases teamwork. However, friends having 400 to 600mm lenses had better results in doing so.
Alan, I have been on a competitive sailing boat. I bet it is an experience!   Posted: 12/15/2024 21:00:19
