The Eye by Craig Callan

December 2024 - The Eye

About the Image(s)

This is part of a new exhibit I am working on called "Origins" Before you seek medical attention, let me hasten to explain the the show is composed entirely of abstract images. This one comprised six layers in Photoshop, Spherical mapping, and image duplication and rotation, as well as the Flood Filter extension to simulate water reflections. If you want to see more of these, check out my gallery at https://www.craigcallan.com/Origins

Criag,
This is certainly an imaginative image. Love to know more about how you created it. What did the starting image look like? OK, this is an abstract, so my focus is not on what it is, but how it comports with classic design elements. The strength of the image is the "eye" at the center and the swirling images and colors surrounding it. Having said that, I'm not sure that the reflection adds anything to the image.   Posted: 12/06/2024 16:35:01

I am attaching the originals below. The reflections are part of the exhibit theme. "Origins" is a meditation on three Creation stories: Haida, Northwest Native American, Genesis, an the Big Bang. Remember, Genesis say, the "The Spirit of God hovered over the waters". As far as the steps taken to transform the images, I can only say "stuff happened".   Posted: 12/06/2024 20:35:52

Hi Craig, I always feel like what I imagine a deer in the headlights must feel like when it comes to providing feedback on an abstract. I find it interesting, and circular shapes and patterns keep my eye come back for more to the center of the image. I do like how it looks like the water is running off an edge down in front.   Posted: 12/12/2024 23:58:00
