Hi Barbara - this looks like the Smoky Mountains. The textures and the tones are very nicely portrayed in monochrome - and it brings a sense of history in black and white. The crop and the shadows in the background do a nice job to isolate the subject. Thanks for sharing   Posted: 07/02/2026 15:24:24
Thanks Shari. Yes, you're right it is the Smokies! Appreciate your feedback.   Posted: 07/07/2026 22:35:51
Hi Barbara! I love the wistful mood of the image. I think it comes partly from the light that falls so gently on the broken carriage that has a history to tell. I like the way the carriage fills the frame, and, as Shari says, the tones and textures of the image are just beautiful.   Posted: 07/07/2026 07:15:37

This is probably my favorite image this month. I love the history feeling of the image along with a feeling of a passage of time. The wagon fills most of the frame. The texture is almost so I can feel the wood grain. The image makes me want to know more, who owned it, what did it carry, what kind of history did this wagon have.   Posted: 07/07/2026 18:34:41

Hi Barbara,
I really like this image. Your crop worked quite well to my eye. Yet as I study the original I can also see how converting the original (without crop) would also be a really good option. To my eye it is a really good story telling image - what was the building originally? How many miles went under the wheels of the wagon? How ole is the building and the wagon? and more.
Looking at your original I began to wonder "if". So I played with the color version in PS and SilverEfex Pro 7 to see if it would work. I used the tint to compliment the age of the subject.
I very nice image Barbara thank you for sharing it with us.   Posted: 07/12/2026 00:57:04

Thanks Ed. I have several photos from that area that I haven't edited yet. I'll definitely work on one or two without cropping. I like your edited version as it captures the authentic character of an old mountain barn.   Posted: 07/13/2026 13:09:22
