About the Image(s)

I took this photo from a moving train so was pretty pleased with what I could make of it.

Hi Robert, what a lucky capture! I think that the many diagonals and the chain of reflected lights (?) as well as the slightly tilted perspective add an exciting sense of motion to the image. - I wonder if placing the brave worker a little bit below half-way and making the image narrower might enhance the feeling of height? I'll attach a suggestion of an alternative crop. What do you think?   Posted: 04/12/2026 20:10:46

Hi Kirsti and Ed,
Thanks for your comments. I struggled with the cropping - Kirsti, I think you got it right. And Ed, you are right about the black rectangle being a distraction. I do like the original orientation and the reflected lights on the top third. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.   Posted: 04/13/2026 00:44:55

Hi Robert,

I really like the concept behind this image. Whenever I see images like this it gives me the willies, I am not afraid of heights, it is just hanging in space like the window washer in the image … .

While I really like the image I also find the black panel on the right and the reflections(?) of the pennants to be distracting from the focal point of the image the window washer.

Attached is a modification focusing on the washer. I cropped it, flipped it, and then made minor lighting changes also included a frame around the image to "contain" the horizontal lines from running out of the image. Your thoughts?

Thank you again for sharing this image Robert.   Posted: 04/12/2026 21:46:41

Robert the photo tells the story of absolute no fear working at those heights. Like the reflections of the other building included in the frame.   Posted: 04/13/2026 00:19:27

Thanks, Steve.
I wanted those reflections to give a sense of place.

Hi Robert. What I like about this image is that it captures an everyday detail most people would overlook. The authenticity of the moment comes through nicely. I like the original composition, but Ed's flipped version highlights the window washer's refection more effectively. My only thought would be to slightly increase the contrast so that the darks are richer and the lights pop a bit more.   Posted: 04/14/2026 15:57:20

Thanks, Barbara. I struggled with the contrast because I wanted to get some clouds reflected in the glass but couldn't find the right balance. Thanks for your comments.   Posted: 04/17/2026 00:20:44
